Pay and respect top influences on why drivers leave a carrier

According to CCJ’s recent What Drivers Want survey, which polled over 800 leased owner-operators and company drivers, truck drivers desire more than just a higher salary. They also crave more home time, respect, and a clear career path that can potentially lead them from the cab to the office. In essence, they want everything mentioned above. While offering higher pay may seem like the easiest solution to attract more driver applicants, it’s not the only factor that will make them choose one fleet over thousands of others.

I met Bill at a truck show in Dallas in 2016 when he was considering becoming a trucker.

Florida Truckers Celebrate New Law Trouncing Lawsuit Abuse

Florida’s truckers and the Florida Trucking Association are rejoicing after the signing of a law by Gov. Ron DeSantis on March 24. The legislation puts an end to the practice of unscrupulous attorneys targeting companies with frivolous lawsuits in the state. The law took effect immediately and aims to bring legal reform and protect Floridians. It modifies the bad-faith framework, eliminates one-way attorney fees and fee multipliers, and prevents predatory practices of trial attorneys. Additionally, it ensures that Floridians are not held liable for damages if the person suing is more at fault. Gov. DeSantis believes this new law will help to attract more investment in the state and protect its economy.

What Do Q1 Freight Volumes Tell Us?

In March, several less-than-truckload carriers reported lower-than-expected quarter-to-date tonnage and yield results, with volumes down by approximately 6.2%. Although the gross of fuel yields increased by 6.2%, in line with our predictions, it is essential to examine different volume lead indicators for the trucking industry, considering the uncertainty in the broader economy. What do these figures imply?
